IDB

Today was an interesting day for me! We went to a bank - the Inter-American Development Bank. Although I could not open an account there we were able to enter the massive building, eat a delicious meal, have a wonderful lecture in Japanese - that I understood so much of - about IDB and then tour the National Smithsonian Zoo. After returning to the Quality Inn a large group went to play volleyball and another group went eat Chipotle!

I enjoyed the Chipotle burrito! I then returned home to get lots of sleep!

We played a couple of games of volleyball. Sadly, my team only got second place. We had a lot of fun and then went to Potbellys = )

I remember the visit to the IDB with AGU2007. Although I couldn't understand Word 1 of the presentations, it was interesting to watch the participants listen to something they could understand 100% of--something we did not often see when the presentations were in English!

I also appreciated the IDB building, with its beautiful atrium. And I ate my first pupusa (a kind of traditional Salvadoran stuffed cornmeal cake).

Yes, the cafeteria was wonderful!! I had a sampling from around the world from a chicken empanada to a slice of grilled vegetable calzone to stuffed grape leaves . . .
